In the 7th edition EK Bio book, one of the questions (Lec 3, Pg 81, #77) is:
Which of the following statements is true concerning tight junctions?
I. They connect adjacent cells
II. They may form a barrier to extracellular fluids
III. They have the greatest strength of all cellular adhesions
I thought it was all 3, but the answer key says it's only I and II. It states that" desmosomes are anchored to the cytoskeleton and are stronger than tight junctions". But everything that I can find online says the opposite - that tight junctions are stronger.
Does anyone know which one is actually stronger?
