Do we have to memorize the structures of the various molecules of biochemical pathways such as Krebs cycle, glycolysis etc?

I'm sure it would help, I think at the minimum know approximately how many carbons are at each stage (ex. how many carbons are in oxaloacetate?) And why/how the number of carbons change. However, the exact structures are not as important as knowing the overarching patterns that guide them. Try to understand all of it from the standpoint of carbonyl chemistry and decarboxylation. Understand why certain reactions are able to generate ATP/NADH/FADH2
