I am a 3rd year biology student. I have been studying for the MCAT for the past 6 months ( I signed up for a Kaplan prep course) now and I was suppose to take the MCAT June 1st. I have taken a few practice AAMC FL and the highest score I could get was a 496. My friend advised me that if I take the actual exam a 496 will literally sabotage my whole medical application process and even if I score really well the second time it will still look bad? Is that true? Also it is too late for me to cancel the exam so should I just go take the exam anyways and void my score? I was planning on spending the rest of my summer studying and taking the exam in August. But after doing all the content review and doing practice questions each day my scores don’t seem to be improving. I’m really looking for helpful advices and I really hope someone can give me tips on studying etc. I do well in all my college classes and have a 3.75 GPA.

You should review all the testing policies for the MCAT, including cancelling your attempt the day of your exam or rescheduling policies if you want to move your exam date out.

Now you've already spent 6 months studying and still only achieved a sub-500 score, but you don't seem to be improving. I don't know how effective your study habits have been so far, but it's clearly not helping you with your exam preparation. Kaplan usually does a good job breaking down issues related to content versus those related to standardized exam strategy so really pay close attention to your diagnostic results.
