So after being denied to the couple of schools I applied to this year, I applied and was accepted to the Sackler School of Medicine in Israel. It is probably the best international medical school and the students do match very well and in competitive specialities. My stats are good enough to get into low to mid tier USMD's I just applied very late and I really really do not want to do another year in my research lab... it is just painfully boring and I'm miserable doing it. I'm just not sure if I should suck it up and wait another year or just go to this school. I know I will match fine in 4 years and everyone that I have spoken with who have attended Sackler have absolutely loved it and maybe it is just an ego thing about being an IMG but I just can't make a final decision. Do you guys have any advice? What if I pass up on this opportunity and not get accepted next year? This is probably the most difficult decision I have ever had to make.

Your numbers are slightly above matriculation median nationwide. If you hail from an unlucky state or have items missing from your application you could have the same luck next year. I would suggest making a full WAMC thread or giving more information regarding your cycle so far, as in have you received any interviews how late you applied are you on any wait-lists. All of those items could be used to determine if you really are competitive.

Sackler is the the only international school medical school that has a direct charter with Board of Regents/NYS Dept of Education and is part of the University of the State of New York. (0205heppi1) That is, it is treated by New York State as an instate medical school. While this doesnt change NRMP status as international, of its limited class of 63 per year, usually 60 match in programs across the country, including Derm and Ortho (see Match Day - Sackler Faculty of Medicine ). Its reputation within New York and Boston is as a excellent school. I would not hesitate recommending a student attend this school as a first choice.
Yes thank you. I know the statistics, I think it's just my ego getting to me and uprooting my life so significantly but I guess that is the life of a doctor and growing up.
