So many things are going wrong, I need advice on how to fix things. I'm so behind in my courses, a few of them I have been doing well in and others I think I could fail at this rate (Biochemistry). I have almost NO EC's and feel like I should give up, but I can't.

Any tips? Should I give up or postpone?

Gap year, or two. Stay focused

Im going on my second gap year, after already have done a master's to fix my GPA. It is a very non-traditional route; remember there are always options

I know and I will probably do a post-bacc/SMP but I can't continue to do so bad in these classes now. 🙁

How are you falling behind on your courses if you barely have any ECs? Are you taking too many courses, being lazy, or do you just have bad study habits. If you're not doing anything else except taking classes you shouldn't be falling behind.

Probably those two, but I also think I'm significantly dumber than my classmates in this school (username).

well I think you just found out what you need to work on. Just stay focused when you're studying so that you get quality time invested in each class. Talk to your TAs, go to office hours, make friends that can help you. If you're failing now, maybe that's the proper motivation to get you working harder. I know I tend to be more productive when I'm feeling the pressure. If you really want to get into medical school, you'll be motivated to work harder. If not then maybe start thinking of alternatives into healthcare (nursing or PA) would be helpful for you. And start filling your schedule with a few volunteer work so that you don't have so much free time to procrastinate.

I think I need to transfer, my dad is going to be furious lol.

And here I thought a pre-med was so ahead of the game that they were talking about a OSHA sharps incident while shadowing. Jeez.

step 1: stop reading SDN. other people's accomplishments will only make you feel worse.

You're an adult. If you are doing this on loans, then your parents' opinions don't matter. If you're doing it on their dime, well, that's different. Do what you have to do though- it's your life, not theirs.

If you're failing and can take a W, take the W. Don't bull it out thinking magic will happen and you'll get a 100 on the final.

Go to your school's learning or education center and get some help in study styles and test taking skills.

It also sounds like a visit to the school's counseling center is in order. Good coping skills are a must in medical school. Don't think about medical school until you fix your deficits.

One day at a time. Don't try to put everything into one huge bucket and call it "what I should have been doing." Do what you can today. Pace yourself. Focus on what's important and get the help where you need it.

Thanks guys. I just need to stop thinking into the future too much!
