There is a student ambassador program at my school where student ambassadors to share their college experiences and secrets of success with potential incoming and first year students at school events. Would this be something good to have on my app for med school in the way of leadership or volunteer work? I am applying this cycle, and wouldn't be a student ambassador until next semester, but I'm guessing I could still list it on my app.

You're going about it all wrong. The correct question is to answer whether or not this is something you genuinely want to do. Do what interests you and see how it makes you a different person.

...and general advice is not to list what you will be doing on your application unless you've already started it or are currently doing it. Imagine the awkward conversation if for some reason, this doesn't pan out how you're expecting it to.

I was about to simply write "do you want to do it?"

The above post covers it. Adcoms aren't stupid, and they'll be able to easily tell which activities are and aren't important to you. Don't waste your time or energy doing things you don't want to do.
