Seriously, I just read 2 posts telling people that they "definitely would NOT get into a DO school with a 3.7 and a 25 MCAT"! That's kind of appalling, don't you think? Their moderators don't seem like real med students . . . more like self appointed know-it-all's 😀

I am a real med student, and I would NEVER tell someone that they would not get in...and I am a mod "over there". There are some people that post on that site that are not students yet, they are in the application process and unfortunately, they don't know just like noone knows who will or will not be accepted. They are repeating things that they have heard (probably on here at the allo forum). It really is not really cool to be mean to people. If you don't like the site..don't read it, but you shouldn't call names, you never know who may be reading.

Hell, it's more successful than any message boards I've ever started. I think my most active one was in high school, and had aprocimately five members... including me.

I've posted there under another name. I think it's a good site but it obviously has a much smaller following than SDN. I made the switch, but felt that I also got some good information from that site during my appliation process a year ago... cut them some slack.

Maybe I was not clear in my post. I meant that some of the moderators seem like (as in I don't think that they actually are) med students (even though they claim to be). I don't know how it works to be a mod and if you have to "prove" that you are a real med student.

I'm sure most of you SDN/Studentdoc member are "the nice ones" and would never tell people things like that (I hope 😉)

I didn't mean to offend anyone or give the impression that I was making fun of anyone. I was just frustrated by the attitude of some of the members over there.

As with any site, you'll run into jerks and nice people who are helpful. 🙂

prions I see what you mean. Someone who also comes on here said that you need to have a 26 for consideration for a DO school. Maybe I took that out of context but didn't sound right to me. Someone else with a 20 MCAT was asking about their chances and someone else told them that they probably don't have a good chance because their score is below the mean. Ummm, hello? That's what makes it the mean genius. If everyone admitted scored above the mean then the mean wouldn't be the mean would it? Sorry for that little tirade but it was aggravating. I would have replied but it's from April.

how do you medical students have time to read all the new threads/posts on two sites as a moderator, while studying for classes, and doing research or ec's (if u are)?

I don't read ALL the new posts, and I am a first year so I am not doing research yet, if I ever do. I am a mod on 1 site not 2.

How do you have time to apply to med school, go to undergrad classes, and hassle people on SDN? Must be tough. I am joking of course.

I look at the sites while looking at histo slides, or the news....usually at 5am before school.
