i'm medical student and i would like to have training surgical program in US in pediatric cardiac surgery ,please i need more information about the available centers for teaching .

thank u .

You cannot go straight into pediatric CT surgery in the US from medical school. It is a superspecialization. You must first complete a full 5-7+ general surgery residency, match into a CT surgery fellowship (2-3 years) and then generally do another year of Congenital Peds CT. There are some integrated Gen Surg-CT Surgery residencies but they are extremely competitive and are not likely open to FMGs.

See https://freida.ama-assn.org/Freida/user/viewProgramSearch.do for a list of general surgery programs in the US.

Unless he meant an observership as a student-- in which case most of the major medical centers would let him look on for a month.

Go to the website Winged Scapula posted, click on "congenital cardiac surgery" under 'fellowships,' and look at the list of places with training specifically in this extremely specialized, technical field. Contact those places' Visiting Students coordinator to see what their criteria are for accepting foreign students for observerships.

so i have to go through gen.sur first , mmm

ok what about the best centers for teaching in US .

The best centers for teaching in the US are hard for even US grads to match into. I would think it would be EXTREMELY hard to match into a top program here as an IMG. Just focus on matching anywhere you can in the US - maybe look into IMG friendly programs. Work your ass off where you match and do research to get a good CT fellowship. Work your ass off there and do research and hopefully you can land a congenital/PedsCT superfellowship.

I'm not trying to crush your dreams of matching at a top program, but the top places have their pick of the best and the brightest US grads, it will make it very hard for an IMG to match regardless of how great you might be.

Do a forum search for "FMG Surgery" or something like that. You will find DOZENS of threads very similar to this one where people give their advice on how to match as a FMG/IMG (it is not an easy process). There were too many threads for me to cut and paste, it would be easier for you to do it and find the ones that answer the questions you have. I didn't see any recommending any particular programs, but I only looked at the first 4 I saw. Good luck.
