For those of you involved in your school's student government - why did you do it? Are there any advantages to being involved and is it worth the extra time?

It is a way to give back to your class, and make small changes. Actually pass/fail became a reality because of the student government at my school. I get extreme satisfaction helping out my fellow students too.

I'll echo Shabu's sentiments. Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference. At my school, though, because we are new, I think the interaction with administrators has led to some bigger changes than are normally possible.
