Does anyone know if student hosts are ever part of the admissions process?

I highly doubt it matters. Your student host does NOT have input to the admissions process, unless you are an atrocious houseguest and are lewd, crude and lascivious. Is it better to stay with a student host or stay in a hotel? Does it look like you have more interest in the school if you stay with a student?

It doesn't "look better" if you stay with a student -- they are doing you a favor saving you a hotel bill, maybe giving you some insight on student life. You are likely inconveniencing someone who volunteered to have a guest. In most cases your student host won't have input in the decisions, although if you get them upset with you (by trashing their place, stealing their SO, etc) they can certainly damage your chances.
When I was a host last year, we we told that the admissions office wants to know if the applicants 'misbehave'. Out of nine people that stayed with me, there was only one really obnoxious kid. I just let it go because I felt that it was my job to feed him and to let him stay. I was delighted to learn several months later that he had been rejected....and his MCAT and GPA were both above the school's average (he advertized that every 10 minutes, too). It was reassurring to know that the admissions process works.Does anyone know if student hosts are ever part of the admissions process?
