I don't consider myself to be a "CV-padder", but would one include something like a "Student of the Month" acknowledgment? Our school profiles individuals every month on the main webpage. It's not exactly an award or anything, and it's usually to highlight service to the school and/or something unique about the students.

Not to minimize the award, but "Student of the Month" sounds like something that goes on a bumper sticker. Besides, being student of the month means there are eleven other students just like you every year. I'd leave it off unless it's a big deal at your school.

Did you get this because your name was randomly drawn out of a hat? Or because somebody nominated you for something great you did?

I hope you did not get the nomination on the month of February because that means that you were good for only 28 days.

no, i wouldn't list this. as someone who doesn't attend your school i have no idea what it means, and my initial reaction is that it sounds like a "my child was student of the month at ____ elementary school." i'm not saying it is, but i don't think it gets you any points.

I think it sounds weird if that's all you put...."Student of the Month for February" on your CV/application. But if you can back it up with the criteria for selection, then why not? Sure it sounds a little juvenile, but you didn't pick the name. If they gave it to you because they caught you picking up someone else's trash in the hallway between classes or something, then I would not put this award down. But if they gave it to you because you head up Student Council, got your name on a published paper, got straight As the previous quarter, and are just an all-around nice guy, then put it!! Just put the selection criteria to back it up. It's an award like anything else, just with a slightly elementary school sounding name.

I kinda wish I hadn't started this thread 😳 If I was a donor this year, I'd probably delete it.

But, it's not actually called "student of the month". Our school's web page profiles a student every month (in an effort to show off the accomplishments of the student body, etc). It is basically just a local recognition and no outsiders would know what it's about. But, since it has a mini-bio, it does give a different perspective of a student (separate from a personal statement and a MSPE). Yeah - I don't think it's a good idea to put on a CV though.

Still...no.

Put it in ur PS maybe.

My stepdaugher just won student of the month awar and they gave her a sticker and everything!! LOL. I wouldnt mention it

I had a neighbor whose son was selling pot in the driveway. My neighbor across the street caught 8 deals in a day on video tape, give it to the police, they came with a dog and went through the house and busted him.

I was tempted to make up a bumper sticker, and put it on the back of their car in the middle of then night that would say : My son sells drugs to your HONOR ROLL STUDENT.

But I didn't
