Can anyone recommend a website for buying a student white coat. I did a search to look for old posts regarding this, and found 2 websites (allheart.com and another one that only seems to have one type of coat).

The coat I received from school is way too big, because I need a petite size. I've just having some difficulty finding a decent coat!! Any suggestions ladies?

thanks in advance 👍

Google "Lab Coats" and you'll get so many options you won't know what to do.

Doesnt your med school bookstore have lab coats?

hey guys,
thanks for responding..my med school bookstore doesn't have my size. I googled lab coats, but the problem is that there are way too many sites, so I was wondering if anyone can recommend a site that they have used.

Try AllHeart first. If you can't find what you want there, try netuniform.com or uniformsandscrubs.com. I've had great results with both of those, too.

My school ordered my size for me. If you wear a weird size, you might want to buy a different size and get it tailored or go to a store that sells uniforms in your area and try on a few different ones.

spend as little as possible... the short white coat is one of the most demeaning and humiliating aspects of medical school. it makes u an instant target for ridicule from ancillary staff and hospital-savy patients.

try to google for "consultation coat" instead of lab coat. (consultation = short white coat, for med students as opposed to long white coat). alternatively, you should take your coat to a good tailor to get it altered... it's not too difficult to alter to petites proportions.

Staph aureus is everywhere...not only white coats..

...and your white coats. At least once a month, please! 😉

Seriously...some of the coats my classmates in med school wore got downright disgusting-looking. Brown rings around the collars and cuffs, funny-looking stains, etc. I don't think they ever washed them. If I were a patient, I wouldn't have let 'em anywhere near me with those things on. :barf:
