Hello Everyone 🙂
I am a future OT student planning to apply in the fall for the class entering in 2012. I graduated from college a few months ago so right now I'm just finishing up a couple pre-reqs & hoping to do some traveling. I'm interested in studying abroad at a language learning school this fall semester to learn Spanish but I'm worried that if I leave for a different country I will lose touch with the schools I apply to regarding interviews/acceptances. Would the fall be a better time to do this than the winter semester? It seems like most people hear back after January/February so I was wondering if I would be okay leaving the country in late August-early December? I am applying to school as soon as the application windows open up. Can those of you who have experience let me know when exactly I will need to be in the country to communicate with schools? Or if I should just skip the trip all together?

I'd speculate to say "yes." Sounds like you've got it under control. And remember, the vast majority of interviews occur when? Right. Post-December.
Bon voyage.

P.S. In the event you really become conversant in Espanol? This could be a huge boost in selling yourself to a grad program. You know, the bi-lingual OT! Powerful.

I would say no, you don't need to be in this country, as long as you have internet access and a mailing address. (Remember there are international applicants.) Any mail you might need can also be forwarded by a parent or someone else.
