If we plan to study abroad the summer we apply and we won't get our grades for those courses until mid-late August, does that mean AMCAS will NOT calculate those courses into the GPA and schools will not ask for them?

Someone told me that med schools can and will ask for letter grades for courses taken abroad, but I was wondering if this is an exception since those courses were completed after the AMCAS primary has been turned in?

Thanks

You will be required to provide all transcripts if/when you matriculate so that school eventually will see those grades. Also, if you end up reapplying, you will need to add those grades to your application.

Hi LizzyM! Thanks for your response. So basically, only after you matriculate and if you reapply will schools see those grades? During the application season, the grades for those courses (which are not at an US or Canadian university) will not be factored into GPA and schools will not see the grades?

Is it common for schools to ask about them during the application season?
