study abroad issue

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
does anyone have any advice/insight? some additional info:

the class is a photography class (i know, kind of embarassing to fail haha. i actually did all the work, i just think the professor wasn't happy with my photos. thankfully dentistry doesn't require good photography skills). all my classes are in spanish and i passed the rest of them. i'm just wondering if the fact that it's an art class will make the failing grade not so bad. the grade is a 3.5/10 (5 or more is passing).

basically, will the adcoms be sensitive to the fact that it was a grade abroad and will the fact that my GPA isn't affected by it help a lot? i'm pretty stressed about this, so any advice would be very much appreciated!

I've never done study abroad so I didn't have to deal with study abroad grades. With that.... in my opinion, a non science class from a foreign institute should not be a big deal. At most, they might ask why you got that grade and you can give your explanation. But I wouldn't lose sleep over it, especially if the rest of your stats are fine

thank you for your response! i'm going to try and fix the grade but the professor seems pretty stubborn about it. i hope that if i have to show the transcript with the failing grade on it that it won't hinder me too much!

No problem, good luck 🙂

wondering if anyone who has studied abroad has experienced something similar?

It depends on how the grades show up on your transcript. The SA program I did showed up exactly like a regular course. Can you withdraw?

I did a SA program with University at Buffalo in Russia. It was a P/F grade system. The grade shows up on the transcript just like that, P or F. However, it was not for individual programs or classes. IE: it says "St. Petersburg Study Abroad" on my transcript, and says P. There is no break down of the classes I took over there.
Not sure how your program works, maybe you could ask your home schools SA office. They will know exactly how it will appear on you transcript.
