Hey,
So assuming I apply the end of my junior year.. would it pretty much be impossible to study abroad senior year, i.e. for fall semester. I know fall semester is when you start interviewing but I was curios to know if any of you studied abroad during this time? If not, then i guess ill have to look for a spring semester option.

I really wouldn't suggest it. First, you'll be getting secondaries and will have to somehow be able to fill them out and return them with fee (some of the due dates will be before you get back, probably). Second, you won't be able to start interviewing until what, December? Many people will have interviewed/been accepted by the time you even start. I'd say it'd be impossible if you went somewhere where you wouldn't have any communication (Africa, South America), but would still be a bad decision if you went to Europe or something like that.

If you apply early, you should be OK to go to a Spring study abroud, but it'd be safest to stick to places that have internet/phone communication available. And to have parents willing to do everything for you back here (send deposits for acceptances, work w/ finincial aid...).

Now, summer before med school should be a fine time to do some studying abroad.

My school doesn't let you study abroad your last semester here, so make sure you check up on that too.

what about studying the summer between junior and senior year? So long as you start your app early, and you have internet service, you can submit it. Or, you can have it done before you leave and have somebody else submit for you if you wont be around. If you submit in June, you'll start getting some secondaries around Julyish, but a lot of them can be done online.

You could study the fall semester of your junior year. During that time, you haven't started the hecticness of studying for MCAT and working on your personal statement, which would be during your junior spring yr.
