(applying 2012-2013 cycle)

assuming I like my MCAT score from the May 2012 testdate, have everything submitted as early as possible & am verified...what is the timeframe that all of this will occur as well as secondaries and (hopefully) interview invites?

I am trying to plan to study abroad during the summer of 2012 (probably July) but that's only if it isn't going to interfere horribly with applying to med school.

and just out of curiosity what class did you take if you studied abroad? 🙂

The timeline threads for verification and interview invitations from last year's cycle will give you a good idea of what to expect.

I did what you're talking about doing: going away for all of July and the last two weeks of June. It was fine. MCAT score comes out, you go on wild foreign bar hopping celebratory evening and all is good.
Maybe pre-write some secondary essays before going, based on schools whose secondaries have repeated over many years (its possible to figure this out, but I'm not doing the leg work). Also, lots of schools use similar prompts, "ethical decision" "biggest challenge" "most/least rewarding" etc...
I would say doable, but requires serious work when you get back and some premptory work before hand. For schools with zombie secondaries that just want your $90, you can send those in from abroad.

[oh hey its time to apply for summer study abroad!]

I would be studying abroad for...at least 3-4 day before my MCAT scores are released... just worried that if I don't get a good score its going to not only ruin my trip but then make me late if I have to retake once I get back
