I figured out that in the evenings I am too wiped to really put in any solid reading, and during the day I have short snipets of down time here and there but no real quiet time to read. I know for a fact the only way to do well on this rotation is to read when I can, and know my patients well for rounds in the morning... so my goal is to read 1 chapter of blueprints each weekday (for example, read 2 pages or 15 minutes, and repeat that process 10 times throughout the day)

on the weekends do more from my quote real textbooks and try to keep pace in blueprints.

is that enough? I mean we are only talking about 8-10 hours of reading per week...

At the beginning of any rotation it is difficult for me to study as much as I should, so yeah at the beginning i study 5-10 hours per week. However when I know that a test is looming ahead, I've found that I need to put more hours in. So it doesn't matter how tired I am--I'm going to study when I come home in the evenings or early early in the morning. I think you'll find that you will probably have to put more hours in, but they may be dependent on your study habits and productivity.

Agreed that a big skill to be acquired during your MS-III year is the ability to read in small chunks. We're all used to sitting down for 3-8 hours at a time (from our college/MS-I/MS-II days) but that's just not possible anymore, except for your one day off a week. You have to be able to read and digest small pieces whenever you have downtime.

You'll soon find it's amazing how much you can learn in less than 30 minutes. Heck, you could review an entire disease (e.g. appendicitis) in 15 minutes!
