Right. Kaplan is ridiculously expensive. That being said, their practice material is top shelf and their study material is nothing to laugh at. Its actually pretty nice because they will tell you exactly what you don't need to know, and can thus save precious hours not studying superfluous material. They also teach you which species employ malpighian tubules in their excretory system. I nearly did a backflip when I saw this appear on test day. They have tons of practice sections for all parts of the DAT and I feel that the sheer number of practice problems they have almost justifies the price. They have like > ten section tests for each sub section of the PAT. Oh yeah, going to the lectures is an INSANE waste of time if you are good at learning on your own. If you're not, then I guess they're somewhat useful. The moral of the story is this: Kaplan needs to start a scholarship fund.
However, until that happens, I would recommend the online class option. You get all the study material and none of the in class lecture... altho i guess you could theoretically crash that. The last time i checked it was about $200-300 less expensive (although its been a long time since i have checked). If you do buy the material second hand from another individual, make sure they give you all the books, all the flash cards, and all the practice tests. I think there are close to 100 section tests. Although it is ultimately up to you.
Ohhhh yeah one more thing. Kaplan does have mock tests that are given in the exact format (on computer) as you will see on test day. To get access to that, you may have to buy the course from kaplan.
Maybe this was helpful? I hope?
