So - we are all getting ready for finals here I am assuming... Lets share of study music! I saw some threads about this in the pre-med forum, but I am more interested in what us pre-pharmers are listening to. Post whatever music that helps you study!

I listen to post rock and instrumental music to study. Music with lyrics distracts me. I won't share unless someone asks it's not really popular.

Yes - please share! 90% of the music I listin to while studying is instrumental. I actually like a lot of soft electronic type music. I find that when words are mixed into the music, I have a harder time concentrating.

For example:

This music got me through calculus..

For me it's usually entire albums because albums > single songs any day but... here's part of a few of them, the better known ones.

I also like Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon has got me through many chemistry chapters.

I have Last of the Mohicans also. Have you ever tried Lord of the Rings soundtrack? That is also an awesome album to study to.

I too subscribe to the "no lyrics" approach.

That's why, when studying, I listen to Dubstep. My neighbors listen to it too..

..whether they like it or not. 🙂

Two words: Flying Lotus.

Didn't think anyone here would like flying lotus👍👍

I just finished a Flying Lotus album. Great stuff!

If you are feeling in a more "dark mood" - Trent Reznor (of nine inch nails) and Atticus Ross have come out with some really great instrumental stuff also.

Social Network soundtrack:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack is much darker, but its good.

Hot-blooded academic battle theme. If this doesn't get you fired up to kick reason to the curb and make the impossible possible, I don't know what will.

Dude... That's pretty good.. But it does not beat this one!

I like Beethoven and Chopin usually. Every once and a while I'll throw in the soundtrack to Batman (Michael Keaton/ Tim Burton) or a John Williams compilation when I can't stand classical anymore. But Batman and Williams only come out for finals when I've been studying for way too long.

A bit irrelevent, but I took an undergrad jazz course once. The final required us to be able to distinguish 50 different jazz pieces along with artists and the instruments used in the piece. That was one of the hardest final I ever took. They all sound the same to me. 🙁

Am I the only one that cannot listen to music and study at the same time? I feel I cannot focus unless it's a song without lyrics and a beat that I absolutely cannot recognize. Am I ADD or is this completely normal? haha 😱

Some people who listen to music on a regular basis have natural resistance against distraction by noises. I can focus pretty well too, so you're fine I have friends that can't study while listening to music.

As for study music, go Study Music Project! theres like 28 in the playlist from the same guy who's a med student

Definitely not ADD! But I agree, even if its classical, I find background music to be very distracting. Personally I kinda like to have the tv on mute while I study.
