I have never had any problems with college courses. I got straight A's in orgo, inorgo, biochem, all upper level chem courses, 35 on the MCAT, etc. However, if you ask me a very specific question from any of the above now, chances are that I either don't remember or I have to look some of it up.

The first day of med classes is only 3 weeks from now, and I am am getting more and more restless. I know that if I forget the pKa of some stupid acid, I can look it right up. If, however, I forget what nerve runs under what muscle behind what bone, the implications may be a bit serious.

How have you people dealt with retention of so much specific information given over such a short timespan? I have heard the "you don't have to know everything" many times, but it still bothers me

enamine, please try not to be such an ass.

idq - don't stress out this much about school. you will never know everything, and you'll need to accept that. just work hard and you'll be fine.

First of all, ignore enamine.

Second of all, you're not alone. You aren't going to retain much from the huge chunk of material they will drop on your brain, but don't worry, neither will the great majority of your classmates. The important concepts in medicine will gradually be pounded into your brain through repetition.

Thank you, idiot. What exactly do you know about me that leads you to believe that I have no life?

Are you just bitter that you picked this profession? Walmart is still hiring🙄

Thanks for the response

I posted about my college/mcat not to brag. Heck, I know that noone will give a damn 1 year from now, not even myself. I simply wanted to give a foundation to my question.

I have worked with 2 Weill MS1s last fall and they were literally driven up the wall by the amount of material. I have been picturing myself in their shoes the past few days
