Anyone care to share their study techniques? Do you do certain types of studying to specific classes?(Sorry if this forum has been repeated a lot)

I have found flash cards and practice test works great for me, but my biggest problem is how long it takes me to make flash cards.. I spend so much time making them it cuts off time I could have been studying rather than preparing to study.

I have considered making flash cards over the next three weeks for some of my classes, but I'd hate to make a lot of useless flash cards thinking we are going to do chapters that we aren't.

If anyone has advice for biology, A&P and physics in particular those are my upcoming classes. Thanks in advance!

Biology, A+P: Spaced repetition for days
Physics: Practice problems for days

For anything scientifically related going over the material out loud and reviewing it actively is what counts. Flashcards do this well because they force you to synthesize information to answering questions about what a definition is or the answer to a question on your flashcard is. But there are many ways of doing this and that's what important. You really do have to practice like you play; the more you practice like an exam in terms of making your own questions and actively recalling and synthesizing information, the better you'll do. Many people don't start doing this until a day or two before the exam and do rather passive "make notes of the material" "read the notes" etc. The earlier in your prep your doing active learning, the better you'll be.

Thank you all! I will keep all these ideas in mind and will hopefully have a successful semester!

Practice until you can preach the material.
Fixed it.

If you are still writing out flash cards then using a digital flashcard program like ANKI can save you lots of time.

Like someone above me, the way I studied was class dependent. In physics, it was mostly practice problems. In physiology, it was flash cards and making sure I knew my notes really well. In Ochem, it was a combination of flash cards, practice problems, and rewriting mechanisms/reactions.

Also, if your classes are anything like mine were then I would not bother making flash cards before classes begin.
