Hi!

Dental newbie here. Just had our first (slightly scary) day of orientation and I was wondering if anyone had some tips about efficient, effective study habits. I'm trying to collect as many suggestions as possible and then I'll see what works for me.

Thank you!

Get it in your head that all the other people in your class are also very smart. But the best advice I can give you is realize that C's are fine in dental school. Most dental students are so used to getting A's and B's that a C seems like the end of the world. Disregard this if you want to specialize.

I'm new too, but thoughts are:

-stay on
-don't goof off
-close internet browser
-don't get held back by others
-sleep hygeine
-letting little things go unattended (groceries, laundry) just slowes you down more and more each day. Delegate and sustain.

Nothing much is going to change between dental school and undergrad until you start pre-clinical and clinical work, so just do whatever worked for you in college for didactics.

For clinical/pre-clinical, pray that you have naturally good hands and work your butt off.
