Hey guys,
I'm applying to 32 US programs and 1 australian program in Adelaide. Does anyone have opinions on being trained at a foreign medical school???

I'd love to get trained there, but don't know if it's the best situation in terms of residency and fellowships.

Please let me know if you have any advice or know someone who did this

Please don't bump to the international threads, I'm curious about US student opinion

if you want to practice in the US, you should train in the US. the only exception would be canada, which is governed by the LCME and does not graduate you as an IMG. even there, they only have a couple of programs that are really viewed as on par w/ US schools (U of T and McGill), both of which are very hard to get into. Not that there's anything wrong w/ other canadian schools, just talking perceptions here. anyway, i'm sure if you went to prestigious european schools, you could work things out w/o much problem, but i don't think that would apply to anything but the top programs (oxford etc).
