Hey guys, I recently became interested in going into OMFS as a D2. I know ranking/GPA and NBME scores are really important when it comes to OMFS residency. My ranking is so-so, I just made it into the top 25% of my class. I know I need to do well on the NBME (70+) to have a decent chance of having my application even looked at.

So far, I've read that most people applying to OMFS take the NMBE 3-5 times before they are satisfied with their score. If my calculations are right, I only have 2 chances to take the NBME before application process begins June of my D4 year and I'm kind of freaking out. I plan on studying for it starting now so that I can get a decent score in August...but should I be freaked out? Is it possible to get 70+ on the first try? The second try?

Halp =(

Where have you read this? I was under the impression that most people write it twice. Admittedly though, I don't know much on the topic.
