Hey guys,

So I wanted to get some advice on how to study for the QR section. I have the KBB and MATH DESTROYER. I wanted to get some concepts down before I hit the math destroyer. KBB seems relatively basic. I have not had any Math since highschool, So I am rusty. I have asked some of my buddies and they just said they jumped right into the destroyer, the only problem with that is I think I would get destroyed, and be discouraged. How did you all study for this section?

Hey guys,

So I wanted to get some advice on how to study for the QR section. I have the KBB and MATH DESTROYER. I wanted to get some concepts down before I hit the math destroyer. KBB seems relatively basic. How did you all study for this section?

Well, you'll be more discouraged if you get to QR on test day and you struggle through the problems. Math Destroyer is the way to go. Just do all the sections while you time yourself. There's 11 sections with 40 problems, so you'll get a lot of practice. You'll need to master the word problems so you don't waste any time

So you just recommend that I just right into the MATH DESTROYER even if I am rusty, and just learn from my mistakes?

I think the biggest thing is timing. You can know how to do all of the problem types but if you can't do it in 45 minutes then you're ****ed. I definitely regret not working on my timing as much.

Don't time yourself in the beginning!!! Do Math Destroyer all the way through...no timing...just learning. Took me 2 hours to get through each exam 1st time I did it. It was tortureee. But I pushed through. And now, 2nd time I went through with timing. It was still not easy but I managed to do it in time (with many errors+ skipped problems). If you're like me...you might do it a 3rd time. Third time is a breeze and only 45 min of my day no big deal. Now I've been getting high scores for QR in every practice thing from Kaplan/Topscore. I too was rusty for math like you. Don't put off this section because it is a pain. It could mean a point or more difference in your AA +/- ! Math is really one of the easiest things to improve on if you just drill the different types of problems (they are all in the destroyer). I don't know why so many people blow it off. GL!

I wholeheartedly agree with this advice! If you don't take the time when going through math destroyer the first time to try and solve each problem then you're going to have a hard time learning. There were some times when I was going through where I would sit there and not get a problem for 10 minutes before figuring out what direction to go. I feel like it was important for me to sit there and struggle with the problems rather than just rush through and try to finish all 40 problems in 45 minutes because I engaged with the problems on a level that allowed for more learning. I wasn't expecting much from myself in the QR section (I wouldn't have been disappointed with a 17) but came out with a 23!

Screw the Math Destroyer. Go with the Math Battleship instead!

There is a reason that all the battleships in the Navy have been decommissioned whereas there are still many destroyers. I don't think the Math Battleship is a wise choice in today's day and age.
