What are good studying habits for someone who is just starting medical school? It feels like I am grasping the concepts and getting better at it however there are times when I am reading something and my mind blanks out completely and I don't know what is going on (not comatose but like my mind is taking a break by not paying attention anymore)? How can I improve my attention span (aside from ritalin)?

Almost everyone has trouble focusing when they start school. Turn off wifi, take a short break every hour, set a designated time each night to be done (i.e. treat it like a job where you "clock out" at a certain time instead of just staying up until 2am each night becoming less and less productive...)
