So I'm a little confused. I know phones have to be turned off before the exam starts, but if I take First Aid with me to the test, can I look at it during the breaks? I hate the idea of getting a question wrong, not being able to look it up, and then getting a similar question wrong on a subsequent block.

Anyone know the policy on this? Thanks in advance 🙂

Just took the test today. Brought my FA and looked at it during break. Not necessarily to look up wrong answers but to shove as much small detail into short term memory as possible.

Awesome! I know it's probably not going to net me any more points, but it's like a safety blanket, I'll feel better knowing that all the answers are riiiiight there, hahaha 🙄

I looked at mine during lunch and during my longer breaks. If it makes you feel better than do it. If it freaks you out don't.

^^agree!

I know that this would have been a terrible idea for me, but I could totally see it as a comfort blanket for other people. If it makes you feel better, go for it.

As for my comfort blanket, I brought 'snuggle blankey' (also not allowed in test room, btw).

I thought about doing it, but there really isn't time to do anything but stress you out some more. I would leave the resources at home, and use your break time to chill out.

I'm planning on reviewing pharm things that I suck at - the anti-arrhythmic drugs, HAART drugs, etc...

I took the test today and I had the EXACT same question on 2 different blocks. The only difference was order of answer choices and the graph was a little different... so do what you think lol.

Yea, I think it's a pretty good idea to have something in your locker at the test center that you can look at during your breaks.

I brought First Aid and my notes from the question banks that I used. I didn't look up stuff at the end of each block, but it was nice to be able to look up some of the nitty-gritty hard to remember factoids in my notes from time to time. I only opened FA once to look up a list of "antidotes" in the Pharmacology section.

With that being said, I used my breaks to "recover" from the previous block of 46 questions. It was my experience that when I would do questions for practice, my scores dropped (slowly but steadily) each time I did not take a break. The average break I took between blocks was around 10 minutes and an estimate of time I spent looking up study materials that I brought during breaks was may be 10 minutes tops.

I'm of the opinion that looking over stuff after the fact can only inhibit my performance on the upcoming sections. (didn't look over stuff during the test)

That said, to each his own. If it helps you, who am I to judge?

I'm bringing stuff to look over, but mostly for the waiting period...ie between checking in at the center and actually be brought back to be fingerprinted etc and start the show. There was some backup the morning of my practice exam and a bunch of us had to wait an hour to start...just sitting there made me nervous even though it was a friggen practice exam! Not happening again.
