studying less or more

For every 10 hours studying during 2nd year, I study 1 hour third year.

Same for you?

You're also studying on the job the whole work day. Dont' worry you're learning a lot more than you realize.

That sounds about right.

Maybe one hour a day total if I'm lucky.

Definitely not at a 10:1 ratio (maybe more like 7:1 - with the ratio being lower because I didn't study as much as you must have during the pre-clinical years), but yes, I "studied" way less during third year...from just a time standpoint it would have been impossible to keep the same level. That said, I learned and retained far more information from third year than I did from the first two.

yep, 2 hrs combined...during TV commercials. my studying as definitely dropped. I always joke and say before the shelf "it's time to be a MS 1 again and crank out the hours!" like anything else, you gotta read/absorb whenever you can...whether it's audio lectures during the drive or 5-10 min glancing at the recall books in between patients. don't worry, you're (we're) learning, hang in there!

oh ya definitely like 10:1 - strangely enough though it has been enough on things like shelfs and clerkship tests to perform at the standard i was 1st-2nd year (was always one to try my hardest to do as well as possible)....i think as u advance in your schooling you don't require the 12+ hours anymore, as alot of this stuff you DID learn 2nd year and this is a repeat, and definitely you are learning stuff on the job - i don't know, but it does seem to work. i loved the life of a 2nd year, sleeping in, studying comfortably for 12 hours a day and always thought i would prefer it to third year - - until i do try to study and am DONE after like 2-3 hours and see underclassmen there all day like we used to be.
