Studying Ochem after Gen Chem 1

Im taking ochem in the fall and am starting Gen Chem 2 tommorow. Question: does ochem 1 build upon gen chem 1 or the gen chem series as a whole. Will I have a good enough base to start studying?

if so, im buying ochem as a second language/ pushing electrons

Yeah, you'll have a good enough base for ochem. From my experience, ochem doesn't really build on genchem except for the whole "periodic trends" stuff like electronegativity, acidity, basicity, etc. You should be fine.
