I am planning on taking the DAT in a month and am currently studying, but I am afraid I will forget small pieces of information from each section after going though them and moving on.I am using Chad's videos for gen chem and orgo, so I'm taking notes while watching them and taking quizzes after to help with retention.

Example: Day 1: Math all day. Day 2: Review math, then gen chem. Day 3 Review math and previous day's gen chem and then more gen chem. etc.

The only problem is the review is so time consuming going over all the info again. Should I just start taking exams once I have gone over the material a couple times?

I didn't use Chad's because I didn't want to feel like I was "studying too slowly".

Instead, I just dived into destroyer/qvault with prior knowledge from class. I think you should just go through the videos once, maybe mark the ones that you think were hard to understand and come back later, but the important thing is to go do a ton of problems (destroyer/qvault) because that will help with retention more than just listening to lectures.

You learn more than you think. I thought the whole time I was studying too slowly, just like you do; more than that, I felt like my retention was awful. You are probably just doubting yourself.
I think Chad is the bomb. I swear by him. I watched his videos 3x for GC and OC and took the quizzes even more times than that. I completely relearned GC by watching him. Watch his videos on 1.5x speed so you can get through more in a shorter amount of time.
Also, I wouldn't recommend just studying one thing a day. I would work on one thing for about an hour and then move on. Also, I tried doing what you described and reviewing what I had done the previous day on a daily basis, but it just ended up being too time-consuming. So, I just vowed to go over my resources more than once. It worked. For example: I went all the way through Barron's AP, then all the way through Cliff's AP, then back through Barron's, and then back over the most important chapters of Cliff's (this took 3 months, BTW).
Best of luck! Stop doubting yourself. 🙂

Once you have general idea of the materials, just tackle the problems. It will make you retain information better once you get them wrong and you see their explanation and understand why.
