Do you think it's okay to bring a backpack to an interview? Maybe I could put it in the office during my actual interview. I just want to bring stuff in my back instead of putting it in my pockets...like my wallet, mp3 player, etc.

Also for interviews where I'm flying to, could I bring my luggage to the interview and again put it in the front office. I am planning on leaving for the airport directly after the interview

Yes, they understand that people leave directly from the school for the airport, so when you check in ask if there is a room when you can leave your backpack/suitcase

Does anyone bring a notepad with them during the actual interview?

I brought my iPad last interview and didn't even use it once. I'll just be bringing a pen for future interviews since most of them provide papers filled with information.

Is it okay for ladies to bring a purse? Nothing extravagant but just something to keep keys/phone/etc in?

Purses are definitely just fine! The one that I've been bringing is big enough to fit a folder, so I'll just slip the folder/papers they give us in it when we tour the school.

don't bring a backpack, chances are someone will greet you right away and you will look out of place. a formal bag is ok. notepads, etc are not necessary you just look like a keener. a pen you would bring with you if you know you are going to need it (ie at USC). purses are fine but i was able to just put my phone and money/cards in my pocket

Well I saw people with backpacks and even suitcases and the admissions office, nyu if you want want to know, had a room to store interviewees belongings. I doubt they really care if you bring notepads, backpacks, even suitcases. As someone mentioned, schools know that people are flying in from oos and flying out immediately after their interviews. In the end their focus is to see if the interviewees have personable characters, make sure the application info are true etc etc.

I plan on bringing a pen and a notebook to take any misc. notes. I also was going to bring in a 5 hour energy because I don't think I'll get much sleep the night before and it fits in your pocket.
