Stupid mistake in letter!!

I just sent a update/in the area email to a school I'm super interested in..and for some stupid reason when saying something like i'll be a great student at "X school" etc..I put some other school's name..that's in the same area.. and I'm not even applying to that school!! ughhh 😡 😡

Do you guys think they'll notice? should I wait to see if they notice to explain my error or should I sent an email in advance explaining it??

I'm so mad!! I really love this school!! 😡 This is why you're not supposed to do this kind of stuff at 3:30 am.... :'(

This actually happens ALL THE TIME to adcoms. I can't say it will boost your chances.

If you wrote that in the email that's forward to the admissions office, it's probably okay. If you attached a file (word document) to the email and sent an email notifying the admissions office and that document had the mistake, probably will affect you when the adcom reviews your file and reads that. I think it all depends whether or not the adcom sees that or not. Who cares what the admissions secretary reads?

hahaha this the kind of stuff that only happens to Goofy and someone like me lol!!. I did address it directly to the dean's assistant (cuz I couldn't find who the dean was and she's the one who sent me a previous email), and it was embodied in the email.. This really sucks!! honestly the worst thing is that i'm not even applying to that other school 😡 and i read the email like 4 times before emailing it :S. I guess I'll just wait then and hope they don't notice....or should I email them and explain the error and state that I'm not even applying to that school??? .....I think it's time for me to go to bed now... this sucks!!!

People do this on secondaries a lot when they're on their copy-paste game and it never turns out well. You can always try to clear things up though.

This is the exact reason why I write each secondary individually. Takes more time obviously, but you don't make yourself look like an ******* 🙂

Lol I wrote this letter only for this school..I didn't do copy and paste..because of being afraid that something like this might've happened..so I was sleepy or don't know what and wrote down the name of a school I'm not even applying to...silly lol :S dunno...but oh well just replied and didn't say anything so probably they didn't notice...o just decided not so say anything lol. Thanks guys! advice: don't do this kind of stuff at 3 am lol 😛

One thing I find helpful is to make a template "letter" that you're planning to send out to various schools. Then copy and paste that template, which is void of any school names, and fill in the blanks while modifying each letter to the appropriate school's interests, etc.

Another way to do this is... if you're copying and pasting from another letter, use the Find function to search for those old names. Read through your letters. 🙂

This always happens, and it depends on the AdComs what's considered a slight "mishap" and what's not. However, it shouldn't completely make or break your ability to get into med school--unless you were on the border of acceptance. I would just be sure this doesn't happen again.

Agree with the above. They're looking for easy reasons to reject people - like blatant typos. Sorry man 🙁
