I was wondering, a number of positions listed in the back of JAMA say that an MD degree is required, is this to the exclusion of DOs?? Or is MD just the name brand?

Thanks

Come on guys, surely some of you can answer this...

never had to face that problem as I have published a grand total of ZERO articles, but I am guessing that it is just semantics....

I think b/c its jAMA (American Medical Association), that's why they have stated MDs....

Just a guess though....

While I don't speak from experience, I read the ads too and I'm sure that the jobs advertised as MD requiring are MD or DO. Obviously there aren't any jobs that an MD can do but a DO can't. The reverse isn't always true, however. In any case, don't worry. DO's are employed in every field, can take the USMLE and do the same MD residencies, etc.
