Hi, So I just finished up my 1st week of sub-I in medicine and it was rough becuase I haven't gotten use to the time management/organization/efficiency aspect of it, anybody either have ideas, or refer to website that could help.thanks😕
ps esp with patient traching b/c I used the medfools templates and they get kind of out of hand

IMO it isnt the job of the medical student to conduct patient education, even on a Sub-I rotation. This should be the job of the chief resident or attending. For other matters there are specialized counselors available at most hospitals.

As far as organizational skills, that really depends on what you need help organizing.

Patient data? Rounding schedules? Medication formulary?

Index cards are a godsend.

Think they were looking for advice on patient traching - not teaching. And, I educated many of my patients as a sub-I ... mostly b/c I was the one that had enough time to do so. Of course, I stuck to stuff that was not too complicated (I certainly wouldn't be explaining vascular surgery options but meds, plan of care, ect were things I discussed with my patients and their families often).

I used the medfools tracking but if that isn't working you could always try to make your own spreadsheet.

Ahh...I read it wrong.

Well...index cards are still great!
