Subject You Wish You Spent More Time On

School year or during step1 prep.

Essentially I'm asking what topic did you FEEL you were prepared for but actually were less prepared for than expected upon taking step1.

Anatomy huh... I wonder if it's because of the poor coverage in First Aid or because detailed anatomy (in general) is difficult to retain.

Behavioral science was probably #1 for me. Too many answer choices that seem like they were saying the same damn thing.

Genuinely, before I even saw Ijn's response, the only thing I thought of was that I wished I spent less time on behavioral. All of the crap on my exam was completely intuition-based (i.e. scenarios/stuff you could figure you via social-IQ alone).

I want to +1 this question. I know the n of the sample poll is very small, but I don't expect a huge response even with more time. I will go ahead and ask why? before this thread dies. Anyone that answered anatomy care to expand on their choice?

Other people have mentioned in past threads that anatomy seems to pretty much be a crapshoot for Step 1...you basically have to hope they just ask you stuff you know because there's so many random anatomy questions you can get asked.

Like someone in the 2013 thread mentioned that they got asked questions about specific nerve branches that innervated certain areas...nobody is gonna go back through all of anatomy and memorize every stupid nerve that innervated every stupid part of the body.

That line of reasoning makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

That and it's very hard to do a review book of 3D relationships. Even the anatomy review books I have skimp on pics. I think the best possible combo for learning anatomy would be a great clinical review book + an atlas to map out the clinical scenarios. The rest of anatomy is a whole bunch of PhD BS.

I have to say Pharmacology but more specifically, CNS Pharm. Too many overlapping indications for my liking.
