maaaan so its June 17 now and i had planned all along to submit in early june.

I wrote a first draft of my PS and had a couple of SDNers and other people critique it. Based on my responses, I completely changed it around and have had the new one read by some people with favorable responses.

i still want to work on it a little bit more but because of my stats, I definitely want to apply as early as possible and be part of that first batch.

if anything, i can submit it June 25th at the latest. i have everything else set to send it. should I do it now or wait til next week when i can be fully confident of my PS?

I'm in a similar situation, and from what I've gathered, it's better to just submit it earlier.

First point in that thread:

Your ACCOMAS application:
-SUBMIT EARLY. Everyone and their mom says this and I heard it a million times but didn't listen trying to get my application perfect. But they say it for a reason. It really is a time game more than it is a numbers game. Even if you have your doubts and your personal statement isn't totally perfect, spend a day or two revising it and just SUBMIT! You will be so glad you did. if you take nothing else away from this, Remember this one point!

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression you needed to have your PS to submit. It's part of the primary app, not like a LOR which you submit with your secondaries.

Even if AACOMAS would submit it to the schools, I just don't see the point. Would the schools even evaluate your app w/o it? There comes a time when you just need to quit nit picking and second guessing your PS and get it in. It sounds like you've put enough time into the process. I'd spend maybe 1-2 more hrs (if that, given the favorable responses) on it and submit it now.

I think earlier is better in this case. Unless there is something major being left out of the PS or there are major grammatical errors, I would go ahead and submit with what you've got.

I was doing the same thing but I submitted yesterday. I decided to just do it. No paper is ever perfect but I felt comfortable enough with mine. There was no grammatical or spelling mistakes so I figured now its whether they like my statement or not. haha If you've already had a couple people read it, offer criticism, and then make changes I think you're probably good. But it's all up to you. Whenever you're ready and won't regret pressing the submit button.

guess ill just suck it up and do it then! and not think about it anymore

actually, when AACOMAS starts verifying the primaries, do they also work on it during weekends or just business days?

the reason i ask is because i had sent my PS to my health professions office to get it critiqued and i was gonna wait til 5PM tomorrow to see if they get back to me or not. and then ill just submit it.

but would submitting it 5PM friday vs saturday/sunday make a difference?

I think you'll be fine. I'm planning on submitting this weekend as well, but I'm pretty sure they don't do anything during the weekends.

I was under the same impression. You have to put something into the box in order to get to the next section. I would feel reluctant to hit submit with "I'll add later" in the box instead of my PS.

OP, just make sure your PS says what you want it to say. Send it to someone who hasn't read it yet and ask them what message it conveys to them, then make the necessary adjustments and submit it. Unless you feel it still needs some serious work, because I don't care what anyone says, if your PS sucks and you submit just to get it in early you could get dumped when adcom's are calling people in for interviews, unless your stats are rock solid.

I think you guys are misunderstanding what he's meaning to say. He's basically asking if he should submit his PS now as is and get his application in early, or if he should wait a little bit and improve his PS at the cost of submitting a little later.

not to be a dick but if you are worried about your ps maybe you should go work on your ps and not be reading forums online. you will get it done sooner and can submit sooner. If this is your second draft and it has been critiqued by knowledgeable people then it really can't be that bad.

Yeah, I was just going off of the header and a quick scan. You're right.

i am. i just have SDN on as well. my main thing is that some of the people critiquing my revised essay will not get back to me in time so i was deciding if i should just submit or wait which will prolly be next week.

but u guys are right, i need to just submit asap.
