Hey all,

If you've followed some of my posts you may be aware that I'm a nursing student applying for dental school. You may also know I'm applying to the U of Iowa via deferred admit program (pretty much early admission).

Because you have to apply >2 years before starting DS this application does not require LOR, PS, or a DAT score (need to take it before entering program, just not to get in)

Although the application doesn't call for a personal statement would it be a bad idea to include one? I'm just considering this because I'm a non-traditional major of nursing. I would like an opportunity to explain why the nursing major and why dentistry. I would also like to highlight how my nursing degree will in fact be an asset to me in the world of dentistry.

I don't think I will have an opportunity to interview before getting accepted. The information is vague, but it seems like I will interview with the cycle of people wanting to be admitted into the year I am. So I would interview with the others looking to get into the dental programs in 2014, even though I'd already be accepted. Like I said I am not 100% sure, but my point is that I don't think I will have a interview to explain some questionable topics.

So, good or bad idea?
