I know submitting things from high school is prohibited but let's say you did something different (from the typical clinical/nonclinical ECs) like organizing a public event, reaching out to members of Congress to advocate for students in some capacity. It was something from about 8 years ago (I took a few gap years).
Would it count for anything as a show of leadership (not that I didnt do anything during college or post-grad) if I submitted a newspaper clipping of the coverage as "additional info" ?
I highly doubt it as it is not clinically relevant or anything but just throwing that out there!
It was def not in my AMCAS anywhere, nor other areas in my application.

I would not include your grass roots organizing from HS in your AMCAS application. Ad Coms are generally looking to see what you have done since you entered college. Although I am sure this work was meaningful to you, it does not appear to be so extraordinary that it warrants breaking that general rule.

Is this in response to a Secondary essay prompt (in which case the precise wording would be helpful), or were you wondering if you ought to email each school with a link to the clipping?

Was it leadership? Did you organize a group of other students in some way?

This is for schools that "accept additional documents to support the application but do not send publications or research thesis."
Yes I organized the students on my own and we held a small event outside of our town hall and contacted state representatives.
But it's outdated as it was from many years ago in high school.

I suggest you refrain. Depending on the type of advocacy, there are other prompts where it might be useful, but this isn't it.
