Hi everyone,

I'm finally applying this Friday and would like some tips on the schools I listed and any other advice you may have. I made a post before so sorry if you read that one.

Quick summary of my credentials:

-Massachusetts Resident
-Graduated 2012 at very good private university
-2 years research technician at hospital (current position)
-2 years undergraduate research experience
-Volunteer tutor at children's hospital (currently)
-LOR from DO and MD
-Some clinical experience in undergraduate
-cGPA:3.5 and sGPA: 3.42
-MCAT 10/6/9 and then 11/7/11

Yup, so I made a list of DO school based on location and mostly from the forums on what people consider "very good". I'm not sure how they match with my stats though.

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM)
University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM)
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Bradenton Campus (LECOM Bradenton)
Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine (NSU-COM)
Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine–California (TUCOM-CA)
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM)
Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University (CCOM/MWU)
Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DMU-COM)
Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (Western U/COMP)
Georgia Campus–Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (GA-PCOM)
Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCUMB-COM)
A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM)
Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM)
Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine (TUNCOM)
Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University (AZCOM/MWU)
New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYIT-COM)

I'm also not sure if I should apply to schools like LECOM Brandenton or GA-PCOM, but I felt like I should add them because they are branches from LECOM and PCOM. Im I applying to too many school?

I THANK YOU for your advice.

-Future physician, maybe. =)

Hey gratz on that upgrade on the MCAT, well done. And your ECs are solid enough. I mean honestly, I dont want to be too overly optimistic here, but I think you might even be applying to too many schools. I mean obviously its your prerogative, if you have enough money to throw towards the whole application process. But yea, just based on other people's stats and stuff who have applied in the past, you could even lower the list to 10-12 and very very likely still get some love.

I am also applying within the next week. Some of the best advice I have gotten is to print your application and have others read through it. The more eyes you can have look over your writing (for grammar and other errors) the better. I was really focused on having people review my PS, and forgot all about having people look over my EC descriptions. Good thing someone reminded me because I had some word repeats and grammatical errors! Good luck to you!

Hey thanks guys,

I've been out of school for too long and I guess my big list is largely due to my nervousness of having to take another gap year. I'll have my girlfriend take a look at my whole application before I submit (she's good at that stuff ;D ). I guess I'll cut out some schools that I really wouldn't want to go to if I had good choices. ai...

I agree, I think you'll be in solid shape. Good luck!
