Submitting artistic portfolio to Yale?

The Yale secondary has a section where we can upload supporting documents.

If some sort of artistic endeavor was a big part of our activities, is it appropriate to upload a portfolio pdf format? Or should this section be reserved only for academic activities?

I'd love to hear some input on this as well. I love to paint and some of my paintings were in my school's gallery show. I figure med schools would be interested in hearing about it because it shows you are a well rounded student. But i worry some schools might see it as a frivolous waste of time.
