Sorry I made a post yesterday about something else - not trying to spam with just my problems.

So I realized foolishly today that my committee requires a letter from a specific department that I did not realize. I have a class in this department this semester, and letters are due June 1st, so I would likely delay my committee letter slightly (from July to August) if I got one from my upcoming class. I have taken a class in this department before but I did not get to know the professor at all.

Should I risk delaying my letter with a professor I have yet to meet or get a not so good letter from one I already had (got an A in that class)?

August is pretty late, because your application will not be considered complete by schools until your committee letter is in (thus, they won't review your app until then). This may cause you to miss potential interview invites, soooooo I would really try to get a good letter from a professor you've already had (not a "not so good" <- this can/could hurt your application). If you aren't able to get a good letter from someone else, I would then perhaps get the not-so-good letter, just so you aren't late in the cycle. On the other hand, if you have a high DAT (like 24-25+), then maybe postponing being complete to July-August MAY turn out to be okay. So, I guess your answer depends on what your academic stats are like. Hope this provides a little guidance on what to do!

Ah I get that. My stats aren't great so every little thing helps. Guess I gotta go with what I can. Thanks.
