I don't want to waste the money if it's just throwing it away, but I kind of look at is as waiting a year if it wasn't necessary would cost me more in the long run. That, plus I have no clue what I'd do in an off year. :scared:

Anyway,

3.63 overall
3.49 science

21 AA/ 21 TS/ 19 PAT

Decent ECs, good rec letters

I'd probably apply to 7-8 schools.

Thanks for the help. My app is pretty much ready other than hitting send I just am second guessing spending all that money.

had you applied a month ago, you would've definitely been competitive.
it's honestly a toss up now. some schools might take a while to send you a supplement. for instance, last year, after i submitted my primaries during the first week of sept, BU didn't give me a supplemental app for another month or so, and my app was finally under review by early nov.

i'd say look into applying to schools like tufts, usc (schools that fill their classes later than most schools). also don't forget to apply to your state school.

I'm in the same boat!
3.4 science/3.5 overall
19 AA/ 20 TS/ 20 PAT
Lots of shadowing and research experience, good recs.

I sent mine in a couple days ago...a bunch of different schools that I think I have a chance at (NYU, USC, Tufts, Marquette...), and see if I can land something. I'm a CA resident so our state schools are even more competitive. If you submit now we'd probably be in the same batch send out. Keep me updated, and good luck!

If you submit your application this week, will it be mailed out in the next batch, or will it not be mailed out until your GPA is verified? (Everything else on my application is complete, including DAT scores and LORs). Does it actually take 4-6 weeks to verify GPA, meaning my application will be delayed that much longer?

It'll get mailed out when your GPA is verified. It'll take around 2 weeks.
