A colleague of mine was told that he needed 6 months of cardiology training, and then would be able to moonlight on the cardiology service at an outside center under the privileges of an attending cardiologist. Does this hold true to all sub-specialties?

Are fellows in sub-specialty training, who are board certified and have a full state license allowed to moonlight in the sub specialty that they're training in, under a board certified attending?

I guess the idea is not far fetches given how residents moonlight before they're BE. Anyone heard of this?

I did it for two years. Almost like an NP seeing the patient and then being signed behind. It was good experience and good money and less calls for the partners.
