Subtituting courses for pre-reqs

When I started college, I was placed into an accelerated chemistry program. I don't have a specific gen chem 1 course completed. I have completed inorganic, anal and PChem, though. Would it be possible for me to substitute one of the advanced chemistry course sequences for the gen chem sequence?

EDIT: I know that there are a lot of spelling/grammar ****** on SDN, so I'd like to mention that the title should read "substituting courses for pre-reqs"/typo

At most med schools, this should be fine as the inorganic and pchem are on inorganic chemistry topics. You may have missed some topics for the MCAT, but you'll probably be fine. I'd check w/ individual schools, though, and be sure they have no qualms (they shouldn't in most cases).

(You will still need ochem though.)

anal chem??!

most schools say if you have AP-ed out of lower pre-reqs you can substitute higher level courses in the same subject. So those should count

Every school I applied to was only required the right amount of chemistry or biology, etc. They didn't care which classes.
(Besides reccommending biochem and genetics beyond the basic requirements)

Agreed. And I hope that's analytic chemistry...

You'll be fine though, the inorganic chemistry req. will be met, as long as you have proper labs to go with.

I agree with apumic - I would call/e-mail the individual schools just in case to check.
