A suggestion as you look forward to the time you come on active duty. Some states will not require you to pay state tax if you are active duty.

Many active duty military maintain residency status in those states. Look for opportunities to either keep, or change your state of legal residence to those states (legally). It will benefit you in years to come.

So if yoiu are already a resident of a state like that, then keep it. If you go to school in a state like that - change.

You can google search to find which states provide that benefit. If people want to list the states on this thread that is fine.
 
I know florida is like that...I'll try to research some other states that do the same.
 
Ohio has no state taxes if you are stationed out of state.
