Hey ya'll new member here, I've been browsing the forums the last day or two and i'm really glad I found this site, everyone seems to be really friendly and supportive of each other. 🙂 Anyways, I was wondering if I could get some feedback on my current situation. I applied this past summer, and so far have only received three interviews; nyu in late nov, unlv early dec, and temple early jan. Right now I'm staying really positive and doing everything I can to prepare for the interviews to give myself the best chance at getting accepted, but the thought of not getting in anywhere this year is also in the back of my mind, especially since all of my interviews are relatively late. My gpa was a little on the low side (3.43), and in the absolute worst case scenario that I didn't get accepted anywhere, I was considering retaking the DAT to try and balance out my grades, but here's the dilemma. The first time around my scores were: PAT 20, AA 21, TS 22, QR 18, RC 20, BIO 22, GC 22, OC 24. While my scores aren't great, I feel they are fairly competitive, so with that said, would you guys recommend a retake? This has really been racking my brain because while I think I can do better, there's also a chance that I could do worse which would look really bad. Anyways, sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any opinions/advice you can give me 🙂

dude, chill. you are in good shape.

Honestly, I think you are in great shape!! Your DAT scores are VERY competetive!! Your GPA is also competetive. I think that simply by having interviews this early (especially your November interview), you will be just fine!! It would be a shame to retake the DAT (without need) and do even slightly lower. Remember that although one round of acceptances will go out during the first week of December, there will be MANY interviews and acceptances after as well. For the 200-300 EXCEPTIONAL applicants with many interviews so far, they can only attend one school. That leaves lots of seats available for the rest of us (and your stats are way better than mine!!). I really think you are going to do just fine!! Those are my thoughts!!

I just made up the 200-300 exceptional students number!! I really have no idea how many there are out there!! I would say however that there is only a handful compared to the thousands who are applying!!

Eric, that is a very handsome photo indeed!!

you are kidding right????

Seriously ~ there is no reason to worry. Your stats are great!

Relax, you'l be fine. lets worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes 😎

your crazy if you take that thing again, none of your scores are the least bit questionable, and your gpa is solid. perhaps try getting more dental/volunteer experience or leadership roles.....research also helps, but definitely dont take the DAT over, i can almost gaurantee that your scores aren't what got you "late" interviews. the app process consists of NUMEROUS variables.

Hey guys thanks for all your advice/encouragement, I'm feeling a little better about my chances now 🙂 . I think a lot of it had to do with when I got my app in too, I didn't end up submitting my aadsas application until around late july, but oh well, what can you do about it now. Anyways thanks again!

Erm, late July isn't late and three interviews is plenty.
