Hello,
Suppose a totally capable and intelligent person for some reason or another didn't acquire a reasonable GPA during their undergrad years? (mine aprox. 3.0). What types of things could they do in order to ensure their competitiveness among medical school applicants besides the obvious superb MCAT scores and great letters of rec. Surely a sub-par undergrad GPA cannot doom you forever, what can I do? Is grad school the best route? Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot

Post-bacc, grad, masters in pub health, pub policy, etc. I think the post-bacc is the best way to redeem yourself GPA wise, since grad programs tend to inflate grades quite a bit.

I second the post-bac idea. It worked for me in a big way.

another option is to take more classes on your own - not an official post-bac program. either re-take some of the science pre-reqs or take some upper level science courses and do great in them. this will show the ad-coms that while you might not have been so focused in the past, you can handle the tough stuff now.

good luck.
