during my time at my LAC undergrad, i never went abroad. i took courses and did some free-lance work (substantial hours)

my ECs are buff all around, but will this be a point of concern? all my peers went to africa, europe, asia, but i stayed home every summer. i dont want to be seen as not taking advantage of the school's resources.

Admission committees look to see if you are doing things that are meaningful and it sounds like that is what you did. Don't worry that you didn't go abroad. How you talk about your experiences is what eventually sets you apart.

There are many ways to take advantage of a school's resources. As long as your other EC's show that, the fact that you didn't go abroad is a non-issue.

Nope you'll be fine. And I know many people who did a one time, one week volunteer trip abroad... I can't imagine it really added that much to their application. As long as your app is well rounded, I wouldn't consider this to be an issue at all.

Just be confident and be able to discuss the activities you include in AMCAS. Be able to talk about what you learned and why that was meaningful to you.

I believe schools always take into consideration the cost of these trips, so I wouldn't completely worry. Like many other posters said, if you occupy yourself with work around your community, it looks equally substantial because it shows that you're dedicated to the works.
