1) Lost
2) Breaking Bad
3) Walking Dead
4) 24 (may have been pulled)
5) Better Call Sall --> could eventually be #2 or #3, but don't watch it unless you've seen Breaking Bad. It's a spinoff, and you won't appreciate it for what it is unless you've finished BB.

There are just way too many good TV shows. All of these are top notch.

Anybody have any new suggestions? I feel like I have exhausted all good options.

I really want to see what they do with season two. I thought the first season left so many possibilities open that I was sad to see it end.

Broke my rule again and watched a non-terminal show, The Americans. Halfway through season two and so far it's great.

I think we need more of what not to Binge as a warning for others: Hemlock grove is terrible and never paid off as far as anything even in the last season. Also Arrow is way too juvenile so I'd probably stay away from the CW in general. Daredevil and Jessica Jones are definitely the way to go for that genre.

Agree about Daredevil, but I actually liked the slow burn approach for Jessica Jones. I felt really invested in the story and characters. And unlike so many shows it actually had a payoff!

I just finished Master of None on Netflix.
Outstanding...highly recommend.
Only ten half hour episodes- it goes quick.

Better Call Saul is excellent. You could probably enjoy it if you haven't seen Breaking Bad but you won't get all the in-jokes. Also second the recs for Daredevil and Man in the High Castle. If you want something relaxing, try The Great British Baking Show.

Snowpiercer was a bizarre movie but I liked it. Some of it was real crazy like the night vision battle and I liked the bit about the wreckage become slowly exposed. Sad the kids probably ended up polar bear snacks

I can see how someone has trouble getting through the first 3-4 episodes. It's just a grandmaster setting up his first few moves. A pawn here...a pawn there. But it gets to Dostoevsky level story telling by season 4.

My ratings for all the shows I can remember I've watched:

The Wire: 10/10 absolutely a fantastic show. For me best seasons are 4,3,1, 2, and 5. You have to get through at least season 3 before you can really say you dislike it because it is just absolutely amazing. Favorite non-obvious character, BUNK!

Breaking Bad: 9.5/10 another fantastic show. Slight nod to the Wire because I think it is a little more smartly written. Really tough to compare these two.

Prison Break: 8.5/10 super long, but very enjoyable. It's a marathon, but I really think it is a fun show to watch.

Better Call Saul (through 2 seasons): TBD. It's really too early to tell, it does move slow but really it probably doesn't. I'm just so used to binge watching. If you have watched, take the first letter from each episode's title in season 2 and try and spell something 🙂 you won't be disappointed. Message me if you can't figure it out.

Game of Thrones: 9.9/10 Still like the Wire more, but a must watch if you can handle all the aforementioned gratuitous scenes.

Always Sunny (Comedy): 9/10 funniest show I've watched on TV

How I Met your Mother: 8/10. I enjoyed, but its probably not for everyone.

The Leftovers 8/10. This is definitely an odd one. It's like a show that makes you depressed, but its really, really good. Justin Thereaox or however you spell is great in it.

True Detective Season 1: 8.9/10. Just couldn't give it a 9, but still absolutely fantastic.

,True Detective Season 2: 6/10. Big let down compared to the first.

House of Cards just wasn't for me, but probably going to start watching again to give it a fair shot. Currently watching Friday Night Lights.

Watch The Wire people. It really is too good for you not to have seen it.

Seasons 1 and 2 are worth watching. Feel free to abandon after them. I think everything after that went a little off the rails, but I got through it all.

Light and fun is good but sometimes you need something meatier. For fun I like Brooklyn Nine Nine and The Flash.

BBC Sherlock is fantastic, too, if you don't mind that their episodes are the length of a movie basically. There's three seasons so far and three episodes in each season. I personally love it and I don't think I saw anyone mentioning this in their list of shows to binge watch either.

Yeah, thanks for the recommendations. That's what we need to hear about. The eclectic stuff under the radar.

"Chosen" sounds a lot like a movie called "13 Sins" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2059171/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_32 in which a secret group forces people to kill others or else. The group is never named in the movie but I knew right away who they were from the symbology in the opening credits.


It's funny how I mentioned in the election thread how certain knighthoods have infiltrated all segments of society especially the movie industry. Well the actor Ron Perlman

is set play in another movie in post production right now.
